Erin Brown & Barry Watson

Lively traditional folk with a stomping accompaniment

Erin Brown & Barry Watson offer lively renditions of traditional folk music featuring vocals, fiddle, stomp box and accordion (plus occasional appearances from piano, whistles and tenor guitar). Songs and tunes are taken from England, Ireland, Scotland and further afield, but the accompaniment is typically stompy and English, with the odd syncopated Breton rhythm thrown in for good measure. When not playing as a duo, the pair can be found playing private events and main stages of folk festivals across the country with the ever-popular Stumpy Oak ceilidh band as well as running workshops on folk music and dancing.

With a flexible line-up size, Erin and Barry are often joined by a caller for ceilidhs. For smaller events, where clients would prefer mainly background music plus a few called dances, they can perform as versatile 2-piece unit!

“I am writing to say how much we all enjoyed your playing on Saturday night. I think it must have been fairly obvious, especially in the freestyling at the end, that we were in our element! The music was wonderful, the calling perfect and your choice of dances spot on. Fantastic, thanks to all three of you! I really hope to have the chance to dance with you again. Many, many thanks.”
