Devon ceilidh band Jiggery with caller Christian Mayne played a relaxed and informal alfresco ceilidh in beautiful Dartmoor surroundings at the Chagfood Community Event last Saturday.

Chagfood is a community supported market garden supplying year-round organic vegetable shares to Chagford and its neighbouring villages. Once a year they throw open the doors and provide a free event for local residents where they can enjoy organic ford and local ales.

The weather held out despite the threat of thunderstorms and a spirited crowd of young and old danced some of the classic ceilidh dances including the Cumberland Square 8 (the best flymo we’ve ever seen…). A very enthusiatic crowd of under 10s danced the world famous but little documented folk dance “The Conga” which kept them under control for at least a few minutes!
